Garden trends for 2014
Monday 9th June 2014
The garden in 2014 looks more than ever to be developing into an oasis for restoring the work/life balance, the trend in designing gardens has been steadily developing into a 'Zen Oasis' and a 'Social hub for entertaining'. The most wanted feature of 2014 will be entertaining and relaxation spaces that are large enough to provide seating for the family and guests.
Simple elegance will be one of the key phrases for garden design in 2014, simple geometric shapes or flowing curves balanced with clipped domes and drifts of colour will provide depth and a pleasing and relaxing feel to the garden. Another of the most desirable features to be incorporated into the garden over this year will be to surround oneself with nature and planting that will attract wildlife. Trees and shrubs need to be included that provide berries and fruit along with herbaceous plants that provide nectar and seeds for birds.
Large patios and terraces always high on peoples wish lists, now include requests for the inclusion of outdoor pizza ovens, covered barbeque areas and patio heaters, lighting and moving water, which are all key to providing a relaxing space.
Relaxing in your space and making it feel like it's a natural extention of your house is also very important.
